Top 10 Christmas Decorations (That Will Ruin Your Christmas)

10. Yule Doo

There’s nothing wrong with the occasional joke decoration, but only if your sense of humor has progressed beyond that of a five year old’s. If it hasn’t, you’re the target market for Yule Doo.
yule-doo
Get it? It’s poop! Dog poop, to be precise, although anyone who thinks it’s a good idea to buy a feces ornament probably isn’t picky about the type. Yule Doo’s slogan is “When a Tinkle’s Not Enough,” which is to a legitimate joke what being beaten with baseball bats is to playing for the Yankees.
We’re told it makes “a great gift for your dog-loving friends,” because of course the only reason people own dogs is for the fun of picking up after them. A great gift for your coprophiliac friends, maybe. Which is convenient, because that’s the only kind of friend someone who thinks it’s funny to decorate a tree with dog crap will ever have.

9. Fetus

Babies are a common element in decorations, which makes sense considering Christmas is about celebrating Jesus’ birth (and blowing the heads off of zombies in the new video game you got). But why not go even further than that, and decorate your tree with a fetus?
fetus-ornament
Oh, because it’s disturbing! Well, that answers that.
This ornament is made in “a classic holiday shape,” which is a fancy way of saying that it’s circular. But it doesn’t matter how classic it is, because there’s still a fetus floating in the middle of it. There’s a reason we swoon over baby pictures, but don’t go around trading fetus pics—they’re gross. Who does this decoration even appeal to, obsessive 2001: A Space Odyssey fans?

8. Tootin’ Tushies

Nothing says Christmas like farting reindeer, according to the makers of this decoration and absolutely nobody else.
reindeer-butt
Look, either your Christmas celebrations are only among adults, in which case nobody will find this funny, or it will involve children, who will find this funny for hours. Is that what you want, huh? You want to listen to a flatulent reindeer toot Deck The Halls all throughout Christmas? You think you can handle that? Forget it; there’d be a murder-suicide by the thousandth fart.

7. Sexy Santa Mug

“Sexy” is a word used very loosely here, as you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who finds a hairy, obese old man erotic, especially when the back half of his body has morphed into a coffee mug.
sexy-santa
Great, now we can knock “censoring a picture of Santa’s dong” off our bucket list.
The two elderly men/coffee mug fetishists in our readership will be disappointed to learn that there’s something…wrong with Santa’s schlong. We can’t quite explain it, in part because we don’t want to spend too much time analyzing Santa’s genitals, but it doesn’t look like a penis should. Also, poor Santa appears to have been castrated, though considering his testicles would otherwise be rubbing up against a mug of hot coffee, that may be just as well.
So, not only was someone reduced to designing Santa’s boner for a paycheck, they couldn’t even do it right. His parents must be so proud.

6. String Dolls

Not every off-putting decoration is that way on purpose. The String Doll Gang, despite sounding like a criminal organisation of elderly knitters, are meant to be innocent ornaments. The only problem is that they look creepy as all Hell.
mrs-claus-string-doll
Yikes. The off-centre eyes are giving her a serious case of “crazy old lady.” This is something the evil mother from Coraline would make.
Then there’s the Little Angel, which has more of a Blair Witch Project vibe:
little-angel-string-doll
Not only does he look terrifying, they wrote the worst description imaginable. He watches over you when you’re alone, kids—and then he’ll open his mouth, the one that resides in another dimension, and suck out your soul.

5. Caroler Candles

Here’s another example of bad design corrupting innocent intent:
caroler-candles
Their open mouths are supposed to imply that they’re caroling, but their horror struck eyes betray the awful truth: they’re screaming an endless, silent scream. Why? Their freaking heads are on fire, that’s why.
So turn off the lights, snuggle up with some hot chocolate, and watch two children’s heads melt as they stare back at you in indescribable agony, begging for mercy that will not come.

4. S&M Santa

“Hey, that 50 Shades of Grey book sure is popular. We should try to cash in on that.”
“Bob, we make Christmas ornaments. How can we possibly combine that with S&M?”
“Easily! See?”
50-shades-of-santa
“Wha… what does Santa being sexually tortured have to do with Christmas?”
“He only works one night a year. He and Mrs. Claus have a lot of free time on their hands; they have to entertain themselves somehow.”
“I don’t think I can sell this with a clean conscience. It’s like you’ve taken my fond Christmas memories and sodomized them.”
“ Sodomized, huh? Great idea! We could sell a whole line of these!”
“Get help, Bob.”

3. Santa’s Rude Present

Hey, remember that dog poop ornament? Bet you thought that was the only poop decoration you could buy, didn’t you? Oh poor, naïve reader. How we envy your childlike innocence.
santas-poop
This Christmas log is from Santa himself. It comes with a card of a smiling Saint Nick saying “you’ve been naughty,” although that hardly justifies him using your tree as a bathroom. Also available in festive red and green, or with cookie *ugh* chunks. “All kinds of fun things you can do with this unique gift,” we’re told. And they’re right—you could pervert your office’s Secret Santa, traumatize a child who still believes in the jolly old man, or bring it to Christmas dinner as a not-so-subtle commentary on what you think of your family. There are countless ways to ruin the holidays with this!

2. Gingerbread “Pornaments”

“Wouldn’t it be great if gingerbread men came with huge tits?” asked a boy just starting puberty who somehow became the head of a Christmas decoration company. That’s the only scenario we can think of that led to the creation of anatomically correct gingerbread ornaments.
gingerbread-pornaments
He’s a real man now.
Okay, that’s probably not what happened. But the brainstorming session that produced these is depressing to imagine. “Kids love gingerbread decorations, but to get adults to like them too we need to sex them up,” said someone. “We want them to think, ‘Yeah, if I was a gingerbread person, I would hit that.’” And then other people agreed with this person, and Christmas became a little less magical.

1. Penis Decorations

And now, a selection of Christmas penises. Hang a few on your tree, because there’s no faster way to tell people that you’re a rapist:
penis-ornament
Or get yourself a temporary Christmas dick tattoo, because there’s no faster way to tell people that you’re an insane rapist.

Top 10 Movies You Won’t Believe Are Based On True Stories

10.  Ilsa: She Wolf of the SS Isn’t Just Nonsense

If you haven’t seen Ilsa: She Wolf of the SS, then you’re in luck, because the whole thing’s on YouTube for some reason. Keep in mind we’re not actually recommending it (it’s one of the least safe-for-work things that exist, what with the sex, torture and gratuitous Being-A-Nazi), but yeah, it’s all there. And so are its sequels.
The titular Ilsa is a Nazi “scientist” bent on proving that women can take more punishment than men. Her methods include a lot of torture and nudity — it’s basically the 1970′s version of Hostel, except even worse. Somehow.
The Real Story
And yet, it’s based on fact: Ilsa Koch and Irma Grese were female concentration camp guards, going down in history as committing the most mythically horrifying personal atrocities of the Third Reich, which we won’t list here.  Like the fictional Ilsa, both these scientist women used science as a shoddy excuse to cause people a lot of pain, which makes Ilsa: She Wolf of the SS the only “based on a true story” sexploitation film we know of to have actually toned things down

9.  The Hunt for Red October Is Actually Based on a Much Cooler Story

f you’re having trouble explaining the 90′s to your kids or younger siblings, this movie is a great place to start. Nowhere else can you see that, in the 90′s, a Scotsman could play a Russian, Alec Baldwin could be a badass, and movies about submarines weren’t terrible.
Okay, okay, so Hunt is actually a pretty cool movie: Sean Connery plays a Russian submarine captain in charge of experimental technology who wants to defect to America to end what he sees as “a war without battles; only casualties.” However, the Americans think that he’s preparing to launch an attack, and only Alec Baldwin knows the truth because…he’s Alec Baldwin.
The Real Story
This one’s weird, because as far as we can tell the true story would make a way better movie. In 1975, Valery Sablin (the third ranking officer in the entire Soviet Naval Hierarchy) decided that the Soviet Union was failing but, instead of defecting like that cowardly Scotsman, he decided to sail his Frigate, the Storozhevoy, directly into the Baltic and broadcast revolutionary propaganda. That’s right: instead of running away, Officer Sablin was actually trying to start a revolution.

8. Final Destination Based Its Opening Scene on a Real Plane Crash

The Final Destination series of films exists in that weird niche where they make a ton of money (or at least enough to warrant sequels) but never manage to be any good. The ongoing premise is that the characters “cheat death” in one manner or another, and then spend the rest of the movie dealing with the fact that Death doesn’t like to be cheated. As far as “ideas for a good movie” go, this barely seems to qualify as an “idea,” but the producers have struck it rich five times over and we haven’t, so they obviously know something we don’t.
The Real Story
Obviously, the actual premise has never happened, but the opening scene did: As Roger Ebert pointed out in his review, the plane crash from the first film (where death is initially cheated) is based on TWA Flight 800, the third-worst airborne disaster in US History.
The movie’s version has a different flight number, but is headed to the same location, and crashes in a way that is almost identical. Ebert said he didn’t want to “belabor the point,” but we don’t feel like we’re “belaboring” anything by saying that if you base your schlocky murder-porn on an incident where real people died, the only thing worse than the “art” you think you’re creating is how the rest of the world has to put up with your inept, callous stupidity.

7. 50 First Dates Is (Coincidentally) A True Story

The 2004 romantic comedy starring Drew Barrymore as “Lucy” and Adam Sandler as “the same boring-ass schmuck he always plays” tells the story of a lovable, plucky veterinarian who falls in love with a lovable, quirky woman with a crippling psychiatric disability resulting from massive head trauma . The head trauma is the gimmick for the film: Lucy’s short term memory is reset every time she goes to sleep, so Sandler has to woo her in a new way every day. Why doesn’t Sandler just woo her the same way each time, since he knows it’ll work and she won’t remember it the next day? We’d love to answer that but, unfortunately, this paragraph is about to end.
The Real Story
Meet Michelle Philpots, a British woman who suffered two head injuries in 1985 and 1990, and now has all her memories wiped clean every night while she sleeps. Like Lucy, Michelle has gotten married since her injuries, and has to be reminded of her marriage every morning by her husband, most often by being shown pictures of the event.
Her attitude is either a major testament to the human spirit, or the British’s stubborn tendency to “carry on” in spite of pretty much anything: she says she enjoys the soap opera “Eastenders,” despite never having “any idea what’s going on.” And though she doesn’t remember getting married, she does remember the day she met her husband.
Also, somewhat hilariously, that article about her seems to really badly misunderstood the plot of Groundhog Day.

6. Men Behind the Sun Will Haunt Your Nightmares

As the first film to be given a “III” rating (the Hong Kong equivalent of NC-17), Men Behind the Sun (or Black Sun: 731) is one of the earliest examples of what we now call “torture porn.” It tells the story of “Unit 731,” a Japanese Unit during World War II that conducts experiments on Chinese and Soviet prisoners, in order to gauge their pain threshold and find out how enjoyable it is to undergo a vivisection without anesthesia (spoiler alert: not very).
The Real Story
Unit 731 was real. Their purpose was to develop a highly contagious version of the Bubonic Plague to use against the Chinese, because Japan really wanted to outdo the Nazis, we guess. In addition to the “cutting people open while they’re still alive” thing, Unit 731 tested weapons on living people, infected them with various diseases and… yeah, you can read about the rest here, if you want. Though again, we don’t actually recommend it

5 AND 4: Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Psycho Are Both Based on the Same Serial Killer

Though having little in commons stylistically, both Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Psycho have become hugely influential horror films. While the latter introduced the world to the twist ending, and what is almost universally regarded as the finest horror film score in history, the former proved that you don’t need to have plot and acting if you show women getting chased a lot by big dudes holding scary things.
The Real Story
Both killers (and, to a lesser extent, Buffalo bill from Silence of the Lambs) were based on the Wisconsin murder Ed Gein. What’d Ed do to get a following in Hollywood? It’s hard to nail it down to any one thing, but we’re betting it was a combination of the fact that he was creepy-looking, had a weird obsession with his mentally imbalanced mother, and made a belt out of human nipples. There was also the mask made of human skin, the suit made of human skin, the lamp made of human skin…

3. Rocky‘s Real Name is Way More Badass

It’s tragic how often it’s forgotten that Sylvester Stallone’s career — which is made up almost entirely of crap — started off with a psychologically complex and engaging story about a guy who, at the end of the day, just wants to have his efforts and hard work noticed. Rocky’s the story of an underdog who stays the underdog. It taught us that sometimes just getting a shot is enough, even if you don’t make it.
The Real Story
In the 1970′s, there was a little-known boxer named Chuck “The Bayonne Bleeder” Wepner and, if Rocky isn’t based on this guy, it’s one hell of a coincidence.
Okay, fine, not everything’s the same: Bleeder* is from New Jersey instead of Philly, worked as a security guard instead of a butcher shop and, by his own account, never ice skated or wore turtlenecks.
So what are the similarities? Everything else. Bleeder boxed a wrestler (like Rocky did in Rocky III), maintained a winning record, and even faced off against a black heavyweight champion: Muhammad Frickin’ Ali.
Luckily, the Bleeder got his due: he sued Stallone in 1976, and they settled for an undisclosed amount.
*Like hell we’re gonna call him “Wepner.”

2. Jaws is a True Story, But Not The Way You Think

Most people know that the original “summer blockbuster” doesn’t try too hard to be realistic. No shark — not even the hyper-aggressive Bull Shark — will attack that frequently, or that mercilessly, or even get that big.
Still, who cares about realism? WE DO. Jaws is a badass movie with a fantastic soundtrack but, at the end of the day, this article is all about realism.
The Real Story
Jaws is openly based on the 1916 Jersey Shore Shark Attacks and, though the behavior of the shark has been exaggerated for effect, the reactions of the victims isn’t. After four people were killed by an unidentified shark, the people of New Jersey panicked and launched massive shark hunts in an attempt to eradicate the “man eater” and protect the tourism industry — an act the perfectly mirrors the plot of the film.
Keep in mind, ichthyologists at the time thought that sharks in temperate climates were relatively harmless. One even claimed that it was “beyond the power of even the largest Carcharadon (Great White) to sever the leg of an adult man.”
When this was proven untrue, the shock would’ve been similar to the appearance of the massive predator seen in the classic film.

1. To Hell and Back Just Straight Up Happened

We’re going to skip the plot synopsis this time, because the plot synopsis is what happened for real. The story of Audie Murphy, an American soldier of World War I, To Hell and Back stars…Audie Murphy, an American Veteran of World War II, playing himself.
Murphy’s story is basically the story of Captain America minus the injection of super serum. Like Steve Rogers, Murphy was 5’5″, 110 pounds  and, again like Rogers, applied to every branch of the military before finally being accepted into the Army. Then he got malaria, because everyone knows war is boring if you don’t have a debilitating illness.
There’s actually no shortage of crazy stories about this guy, but the most amazing has got to be the of them got the medal of honor  (those stories tend to be pretty badass). At the battle of Holtzwihr, Murphy’s unit was reduced down to 19 men (from 128) by the advancing German line, so he did what any reasonable soldier would do: sent the remaining men back so he could hold the line by himself. After his M1 Carbine was empty, he climbed into a burning tank and held off an entire squad of German Infantry with a .50 caliber machine gun while calling in artillery shots.
Then he got shot in the leg.
Then his phone line to the artillery was cut.
Then he organized a counter attack. Somehow.
So, why did he decide to take on an entire company of German infantry by himself, when almost anyone else would’ve wet themselves and run away crying? In his words: “They were killing my friends.”
So it turns out that, by “reasonable soldier” we actually meant “crazy badass.” Cheers, dude

Top 10 Incredibly Beautiful Tree Tunnels

10. Cherry Blossom Tunnel, Germany

Each spring, a peaceful street, located in the German city of Bonn, transforms into an enchanting cherry blossom tunnel. Photographer Marcel Bednarz captured this stunning sight of cherry blossoms in full bloom. He explained to me that there are actually two streets in Bonn where cherry trees are planted, but the one you see in the above picture is called Heerstraße. As you may know, the average cherry blossom lasts only between 7 and 10 days, depending on weather conditions.
Similar tunnels can be found all over the world, so check them out if cherry blossoms are your thing:
-  Kungsträdgården cherry blossom in Stockholm, Sweden
-Cherry Blossom Festival in Macon, Georgia: over 600,000 people travel annually to Macon, to attend the 10-day long festival. Nearly 240,000 Yoshino cherry trees have been planted throughout that city in the last 30 years. “They’re everywhere, absolutely everywhere,” exclaimed Carolyn Crayton, the festival’s founder and executive director. “ We've given them to anyone who wants them. We've even given them to washington
 -  National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, USA

9. Rua Gonçalo de Carvalho, Brazil

Number nine goes to Brazil’s green tunnel from Porto Alegre, Rua Gonçalo de Carvalho. According to a decree signed in 2006 by former mayor Joseph Fogaça, this beautiful street is part of the country’s historical, cultural, ecological and environmental heritage.
There are more than one hundred towering Tipuana (Rosewood) trees along Rua Gonçalo de Carvalho. The great shade trees stretch over three city blocks, which is a good thing for the city’s overall health. Did you know that trees, properly planted around buildings, can reduce air conditioning demands by up to 30%?

8. Autumn Tree Tunnel, USA

Photographed in glorious autumn colors by Kevin McNeal, this tree tunnel is simply astonishing! The picture was taken on the way up to Smuggler’s Notch, a Vermont state park.
The eye-catching foliage starts changing its color in the northern region, in response to many environmental factors, and spreads south as the fall season advances.

7. Ginkgo Tree Tunnel, Japan

Gingko biloba is a highly venerated tree in Japanese culture. Six ginkgo trees survived the Hiroshima bombing, continuing to grow despite facing so many challenges, and are still alive today. Therefore, the Japanese regard the gingko as “the bearer of hope”. It is also known as “the survivor” or “the living fossil.”
Around 65,000 ginkgoes grace Tokyo’s streets, gardens and parks today. According to some people who visited Tokyo, the tunnel you see in the above picture is located in the outer garden of Meiji Shrine.

6. Yew Tree Tunnel, UK

The medieval Aberglasney House features one of the most beautiful gardens in Wales, UK. They have been an inspiration to writers since 1470. The Yew Tunnel is a popular tourist attraction in this area. Believe it or not, it took nine years of pruning to restore this unique archway. “Years of neglect had left it unsafe and with a perilous future, as the once formally clipped structure had grown even higher than the top of the Mansion itself. It is so nice to see it looking invigorated and healthy again, I had every confidence that with careful restoration it would help its future longevity, but I have to confess that it did look drastic at the time,” declared Graham Rankin, one of Aberglasney’s directors.
The Yew Tunnel is thought to have been planted by the Dyer family of Aberglasney, during the 18th century.

5. The Dark Hedges, Northern Ireland

Tucked away in the county of Antrim, these beautiful beech trees are thought to be around 300 years old. According to local records, James Stuart planted the 150 beech trees in the 18th century, to impress guests as they approached his splendid property, Gracehill House.
Legend tells that the spirit of a maid, who lived in a neighboring mansion and died in mysterious circumstances hundreds of years ago, haunts the country road. “Grey Lady” silently floats along the road and quickly disappears as she reaches the last beech tree.
Check out Pawel Klarecki’s galleries for more spectacular photos of the Dark Hedges.

4. Bamboo Path, Japan

The Sagano Bamboo Forest is located in Arashiyama, a nationally-designated historic site.  The pathway you see in the above picture is 500m long, and runs through one of Japan’s most beautiful bamboo forests. No wonder the Agency for Cultural Affairs declared Arashiyama a “Place of Scenic Beauty”. This forest is close to many famous temple and shrines, including the Adashino Nenbutsu-ji Temple.
The sound the wind makes, as it blows through the tall bamboo trees, has been voted by the Japanese authorities as one of 100 must-preserve sounds of Japan.

3. Tunnel of Love, Ukraine

The Ukrainian Tunnel of Love is actually a two-mile sector of private railway that serves a woodworking plant near Klevan, a small city located in western Ukraine. I read somewhere that couples pass through this romantic tunnel to make a wish. The myth goes that, if their love is strong and pure, the wish will come true.

2. Jacarandas Walk, South Africa

Over 10 million trees keep South Africa’s largest city green. According to several unofficial sources, Johannesburg is home to the world’s largest man-made forest.
There are at least 49 species of Jacaranda, most of them native to South America (particularly in Uruguay, Brazil, Peru & Argentina), and the Caribbean basin. The tropical trees were imported to South Africa over one hundred years ago.
October is the month when the flowers of thousands of Jacaranda trees are in full blossom.  This spectacular tree tunnel is located either in Johannesburg or Pretoria, the Jacaranda City where 70,000+ Jacarandas add vivid splashes of purple-blue to the urban landscape.

1. Wisteria Tunnel, Japan

As soon as the cherry blossom season ends, the gorgeous Wisteria flowers, that hang in grape-like clusters, take their turn on the Japanese floral calendar. The Fuji Matsuri, or Wisteria Festival, is celebrated each spring in Tokyo, Shizuoka, and Okazaki.
The Ashikaga Flower Park is one of the best places to admire different varieties of wisteria, including double-petaled wisteriagiant wisteria and yellowwhite, light pink or purple variants of wisteria.

Top 10 Movie Franchises of the 2010s

10. Lone Ranger Movies
The groans have already started but here us out on this one. The film is backed by Disney. The movie is directed by Gore Verbinski. The stars are Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp. The last time that Disney, Depp, Verbinski as well as an up and coming easy on the eyes star joined forces… the result was Pirates of the Caribbean. While Captain Jack Sparrow might have not had a domestic hit domestically, Pirates 4 was still a billion dollar hit with overseas grosses combined. In addition, Pirates movies were not exactly all the rage before Curse of the Black Pearl either. Debuting next year, the Lone Ranger may ride and ride again.
9. Jupiter Ascending Trilogy
The Wachowski Siblings (no longer brothers) are the same team who brought us the Matrix Trilogy. OK, Speed Racer did not exactly go as planned. However, they are back in their element with a post apocalyptic sci fi movie set to debut in 2014. Starring the hot Channing Tatum and the hotter Mila Kunis, the Wachowskis may be primed to regain the cache they had coming off of Matrix Reloaded. With a world ready to see more Avatarmovies (which are also coming), Jupiter may Ascend into Saturn, Neptune and beyond.
8. Planet of the Apes Movies
World wide, Rise of the Planet of the Apes made roughly five times in gross profits what it cost to make. That makes next years Dawn of the Planet of The Apes a virtual no-brainer. Tim Burton never really wanted to make a franchise out of it. However, this time around the Apes will rise and rise until the no longer become commercially viable. The first real run, by the way, was five films. There is a strong possibility we have not evolved that much since then.
7. New Spider-Man Movies
Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone so far have not been the cash machine that Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst were. However, a quarter of a billion dollar domestically is nothing to sneeze at. As such, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (somewhat working title) is already slated for a May 2nd, 2014 release. There are 40 years worth of brightly costumed villains to explore. Of course, if the follow the Batman Begins mode, the trigger on the Green Goblin is not far behind for our new web slinger.
6. World War Z Movies
Three things are hot right now. They are Zombie Movies, The Apocalypse, and Brad Pitt. Next years summer blockbuster is nice enough to give you all three at the same time. With the amount of money this will generate, there will probably be a World War Z 2 whether Pitt signs up for the role again or not. That is the reason why there is Matt Damon and to a lesser extent Jeremy Renner. All you need is an army, a ton of zombies, and a couple hundred million to throw at the whole situation.
5. Man of Steel Trilogy
Lets just assume that the Robin trilogy is just an internet rumor, the next great Batman franchise is still a couple visionaries off, and the Justice League of America movies will go through a development hell worthy of their potential attachment with Ben Affleck. Warner Brothers is not exactly rushing to make Green Lantern 2, so the fall back position is the hero that started this whole shebang. Zach Snyder’s Man of Steel needs to be a home run to compete with Marvel’s cash machine. The preliminaries look great and there is one ace in the hole that a second Man of Steel cannot begin to resist… in the name of Doomsday.

4. Pacific Rim Movies

There is a reason why Peter Jackson was willing to hand over the reigns of Middle Earth to Guillermo Del Toro. Del Toro knows monsters. Del Toro knows action. Del Toro was also willing to give Hellboy another go. The description of Pacific Rim involves humans piloting giant robots to meet an alien invasion. Basically, this is Voltron meets Independence Day. We may be dealing with these particular aliens for a while. Besides, someone may decide not to make Cloverfield 2 out of fear. There is always hope.
3. Hunger Games Movies
We live in an age when the Twilight movies are still ongoing and already have a successor making nearly 400 million at the box office. The Hunger Games already have the formula down. Catching Fire is in production. There is talk that Mockingjay will be divided into two parts ala the Harry Potter finale and Breaking Dawn. With J. K. Rowling, Stephanie Meyer and Suzanne Collins down, the world must already be searching for the next female author to come up with a world capable of entrancing tween to teen girls. When all is said and done, a world wide gross of nearly 3 Billion or above for all four movies is not out of the question at all.
2. The Hobbit Trilogy
A little trivia: they originally expanded the Lord of the Rings from a planned two movies to the three movies that you saw. Now that the Hobbit has taken one book and expanded from two movies to a trilogy before the first one was even released, the die is cast for another trilogy to define yet another generation. Peter Jackson is the George Lucas of Middle Earth, but the difference is that Rings fans have learned to trust Peter Jackson’s vision implicitly.
1. Avengers, Avengers, Avengers….
We think that Yogurt put it best. It is all in the mer-chan-dising. There is not only a planned Avengers sequels. There is a healthy appetite for each individual member to have spawned their own personal trilogies. When done, Avengers related movies may add up to be the most successful film franchise of all time. We are already bracing for Iron Man 3, Captain America: Winter Soldier, Thor: The Dark World, a possible new third re-boot of The Incredible Hulk, as well as Avengers 2. You will see Avengers straight through this whole decade. Only Mayan Prophesy can begin to stop any part of it.
